Error description

• An instance crash can occur when snapshots are run from a
  version 9 (and later) client against a version 8 server.
  
  The problem arises due to memory corruption in the server
  introduced when processing the snapshot request. A possible
  stack trace when detecting the memory corruption is:

Local fix

• Possible circumvention for this issue are:
  
  1. Don't issue snapshot requests against down-level servers.
  2. Upgrade the server to the same level as the clients.
