Error description
On a machine where both v8 and v9 are installed applications works fine with v8 but fails with v9. V9 DB2 install does not put the DB2v8 registry entry during installation as a result the Management services does not find it.
Local fix
(1) Update the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\DB2\InstalledCopies\(default) with DB2V8. (2) Start the DB2 Management Service
Problem summary

First fixed in DB2 V95 FP3
Temporary fix
