JR29353: ISSUES WITH DATASTAGE VIEWDATA FUNCTION IN A IBM DB2 QUERY PATROLLER ENVIRONMENT

Error description

• This is enhancement request APAR to modify the behavior of
  Datastage Viewdata so that it will address issues in customer
  environments that are running IBM DB2 Query Patroller.
  
  Current:  To obtain data it executes the stage as specified by
  the developer. If the developer has requested viewdata limit the
  rows viewed, that is done as a post process after the query has
  executed. Viewdata has no ability to parse the original database
  SQL query and rewrite database specific SQL
  
  Proposed Future:  Viewdata should update the SQL to incorporate
  the Viewdata limit set (e.g., fetch xx rows only) thereby
  enabling it to function in IBM DB2 Query Patroller environments.
  

Local fix

• Create a viewdata job by copying the original job and only
  modifying the SQL in the viewdata job and retaining it for
  viewdata purposes.
