Error description

  • The curly brackets are used in Informix to specify optimzer
    directives like
    
    SELECT {+AVOID_FULL(systables)} * from systables where tabid=1";
    
    IBM Data Server Driver DB2 v9.5.100.179 (FP1)
    
    Sending such a query to the server reports and error:
    
    -99999 ERROR [37000] [IBM] CLI0118E  Invalid SQL syntax.
    SQLSTATE=37000

Problem conclusion

  • Problem was first fixed in Version 9.5 Fix Pack 2.
    At a minimum, this fix should be applied on the client.
    

Temporary fix

  • Use /* */ instead of { } as comment symbols.
