JR29163: INSTALLATION OF V9.5 IS FAILING WHEN THIN TOAD CLIENT FOR DB2 ALREADY INSTALLED ON THE SYSTEM

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Installation of V9.5 is failing at DB2InstSel.exe when we try to
  use " Work with Existing" option. This problem only occurs when
  we have Thin Toad Client for DB2 already installed on the
  system.
  
  Following error is thrown when installation is done on windows
  
  Application Failure  db2instsel.exe 9.5.0.808 in  db2instsel.exe
  9.5.0.80 8 at off set 00016edf..
  
  
  This problem only occurs if we have V9.1 any FP installed on the
  system and try to do migration during installation
  

Local fix

• Use the regedit command to add a registry value of
  "IsMergeModuleCopy" under
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\DB2\InstalledCopies\[copyName]
  for the db2 merge module copy,
  and set its string value as "YES"
  

Problem summary

• Users affected : All users who have DB2 V9.1 installed on
  Windows and desire to have DB2 V9.5 installed as well.  This
  issue is with DB2 V9.1 code which generates an issue with the
  installation of DB2 V9.5.
  
  Problem Description:

  Following error is thrown when installation is done on windows

  This problem only occurs if we have V9.1 FP4a or earlier
  installed on the system and try to do migration during
  installation.  The fix to the issue is in the DB2 V9.1 code.
  

Problem conclusion

• First fixed in DB2 LUW Version V9.1 fixpack 5
