Error description

  • When migrating DB2 from v8 to v9 on Windows using a response
file (=silent install), the setup fails to register the DB2
.NET Data Provider. The setup log shows error like:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
1: DB2.NET Data Provider requires .NET framework v1.1 or v2.0.
It can not be configured until the required .NET framework is
installed on the system. In order to use the DB2.NET Data
Provider, install .NET framework v1.1 or v2.0 and then configure
the DB2.NET Data Provider, either from the Startup shortcut or
    from the command line.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

The error occurs even though the .NET Framework is
installed/present. There is affected only migration from
previous DB2 versions. Running the setup on a clean system
registers the DB2 .NET Data Provider correctly.

Local fix

  • Register the DB2 .NET Data Provider manually using the
"Configure DB2 .NET Data Provider" command in the
    "Start->Programs->IBM DB2->DB2COPY1->Set-up Tools" Windows menu
    instead.
