The installer accesses the cluster registry to get the existing instance information. However, the installer will show the dialog that warns the "locking" of DB2 process by resrcmon.exe, the user may stop the cluster service and try the install again. If the cluster service is stopped, getting the instance information fails, but the return value is not checked properly. As a result, a memory corruption occurs and a trap is resulted.
Local fix
This problem can be circumvented using the following steps. 1. Stop all the DB2 services. 2. Move the DB2 Group from the node that is going to be updated to another node. 3. Start the installer to apply the Fix Pack. 4. When the dialog that warns the "locking" of DB2 process by resrcmon.exe appears, stop the cluster service and continue the installation. 5. Installation will be finished successfully with the message "DB2COPY1 was configured successfully".
