Error description
Problems may be experienced with Maximo or Maximo related products when using Firfox browser with scrolling. This problem is not seen when using Internet Explorer ( IE ). Original client report was against TSAM/TPM but Level3 reproduced on Base only screens. Original client reported problem - "When using FireFox (3.6.13) to work with the TSAM administrative console, the following problem occurs; this does not happen with Internet Explorer 6.0 : The "Install Software" form has a few fields at the bottom that can not be modified in FF. The form can be reached (among other ways) as follows: - Use the GoTo menu; IT Infrastructure; Provisioning Inventory; Provisioning Computers; - then at the "Provisioning Computers" tab, filter for, find, and select an existing computer. Note that the form is large and will not usually fit on the screen, so a slider appears. - Then at the "Computer" tab, use menu "Select Action" and choose Install; Software Product. The form "Install Software" appears, with the tab "Software Installation" selected. That tab is long and has a slider. At the bottom are a few fields to adjust priority and wait time. When you try to use the "Priority" or time unit menu's, the browser moves the form and the parent window in an apparent attempt to scroll the forms and make place for the drop-down menu (note that an empty space appears at the bottom). This does not work, and it is impossible to change the pre-selected values. Level3 support recreated on Base only using the following scenario and requested APAR be opened. 1)edited the dialog portion of asset.xml file. Copied the status drop down menu section and it 7 times in the same xml file. 2)imported the xml file. 3)goto -> Assets -> asset -> select an asset -> select change status in "select action" drop down menu. 4)dialog opens up with a sliding bar. 5)move the sliding bar couple of inches(2 inches), then click on one of the status drop down menu. The menu opens up 2 inches down the select button. Reporting Environment: FireFox 3.6.13 - also tested with FF 3.0.19 Tivoli Service Automation Manager 7.2.1 TPM 7.2 Base Services 7.1.1.6 AIX

Problem conclusion
Firefox has an issue with obj.offsetParent where it does not take into account <DIV> elements (IE does). In this case, the <DIV> element was the one keeping track of how far down it had been scrolled. That's why it was working on IE & not FF. The current fix now works around this Firefox behavior by taking into account the <DIV> element. The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance package: | release\fix pack | REL 7.1.1.9 - BS
