Error description

  • When BPC is running in shared work item mode and e.g. a Human
Task is claimed, an assertion violation like the following may
    occur:

    [11/24/10 16:34:11:175 CET] 00000041 TraceBPE E
    com.ibm.bpe.util.Assert.assertion(Assert.java:64)
    -------------------------- Assertion Failure
    ----------------------------
    [11/24/10 16:34:11:176 CET] 00000041 TraceBPE E
    com.ibm.bpe.util.Assert.assertion(Assert.java:65)
    [11/24/10 16:34:11:177 CET] 00000041 TraceBPE E
    com.ibm.bpe.util.Assert.assertion(Assert.java:66) Assertion
    violation !
(pWifl != null) in method >>
    com.ibm.bpe.database.Tom.augmentSharedWorkItem(Tom.java:9815) <<
    [11/24/10 16:34:11:178 CET] 00000041 TraceBPE E
    com.ibm.bpe.util.Assert.assertion(Assert.java:67)
    [11/24/10 16:34:11:178 CET] 00000041 TraceBPE E
    com.ibm.bpe.util.Assert.assertion(Assert.java:68)

The problem may occur whenever new work items are created,
    modified, or deleted (almost always).

Pre-requisites for the problem to occur are:
    - an environment when there are un-referenced shared work items.
E.g. customers with very small systems ("test systems" for
functional testing e.g.) or in "dry out" situations for a
      specific process template.

    - the clean-up daemon must have run at least 2 times
      (default interval is 1 day)

This APAR will only prevent the problem but does not clean up
the invalid work items created by this issue. APAR IZ94581 was
    created to handle this.

Problem summary

  • Problem fixed.

This APAR prevents WPS/BPC from generating data in the database
which could lead to assertions at runtime.

Problem conclusion

  • iFix available on top of WPS V700 SP3.
Fix will be included in WPS V700 SP4.
