IZ88855: BMXAA4195E REQUIRED FIELD ESTIMATED DURATION IS BLANK

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Replicated the problem in 7.1.1.5 and 7.1.1.7
  
  Maximo has problems creating tasks when the header work order
  has an invalid GL.
  
  Steps to replicated the problem;
  
  1. Open any old work order (use 1000 from maxdemo) with the
  tasks.
  WO 1000 have the GL Acct - 6210-300-???
  
  2. Make sure that at least one of tasks have a value (not 0:00)
  in the
  Est Duration field.  e.g  enter 15:00 and save.
  
  3. Go to Chart of Acct and de-active the GL component 6210.
  
  4. Back to WO 1000 and duplicate the WO with its tasks.
  
  You will get an error Not a valid GL Acct. Click OK
  
  Now select Duplicate Work Order and then click OK.
  
  5. After duplication, the new WO does NOT have any tasks.
  
  6. Try and Save work order. Results in the following error
  despite the
  fact that Duration is clearly specified;
  
  Error : BMXAA4195E Required field Estimated Duration is blank
  
  As this duplicated WO does not have any tasks. So what
  field is missing ???
  
  Error persists even if I clear and/or re-enter the Duration. No
  matter
  what I try, I cannot save the duplicate work order. I have to
  abandon
  all changes.
  
  It appears there are some hidden tasks which cannot be saved or
  displayed because Duration is null.
  
  1. Maximo does not allow adding tasks to a work order where the
  header
  work order has an invalid or inactive GL.
  
  2. If an old work order with an invalid GL and also with tasks
  exist,
  duplicating this work order with the tasks will result in
  "Required
  field ? is blank". It appears that Maximo gets part way through
  adding
  the tasks but then runs into problems when the invalid GL cannot
  be
