IZ80179: TZDIFF VALUE FOR GMT+5:30 IS NOT CALCULATED CORRECTLY FOR SHORT TERM HISTORY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Environment:
  OS : AIX 5.3.00
  
  ITM : ITM 6.1 FP07
  DB2 8.1.1.160, s090715 U824363, and FP18 32bit
  
  Problem:
  CC has endpoints (monitoring agents) in timezone
  
  GMT +5:30.
  TMZDIFF values are incorrect for all RAW data tables
  in ITM warehouse database.
  
  By incorrect I mean the value is expected 19800 for GMT +5:30
  but it is 21600 for GMT +6:00
  
  (some tables concerned are:
  SMP_CPU,
  RRT_TRANSACTION_INSTANCE, KGB_AVAILABILITY, HOST_AVAILABILITY.)
  Customer is using TSLA to create some reports based on
  RAW history data tables and the incorrect value
  of TMZDIFF is creating problems (incorrect representation)
  in reports.
  
  Detailed Recreation Procedure:
  
  1)Set timezone to GMT +5:30 on a tivoli enterprise monitoring
  agent.
  2)configure historical data collection for attribute group(s)
  for that agent.
  3)notice the tmzdiff from short term history data tables
  4)to find out tmzdiff in hours divide the tmzdiff value by 3600
  5)notice that the hours value is rounded off and it is not
  +5.5
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Short term historical data collection calculates TMZDIFF
  incorrectly for timezones not on the hour.
  
  
  GMT+5:30 caused the timezone difference(TMZDIFF) to be +5 hours
  and failed to include the 30 minutes. This causes all historical
  data collection to use this incorrect value for the TMZDIFF
  column.
  

Problem conclusion

• Modified the kra and kfa code to use seconds instead of hours
  for the calculation so that the final value in minutes for
  TMZDIFF would be able to show timezones not on the hour.
  
  The fix for this APAR is included in the following maintenance
  vehicle:
