Error description

• Replication Steps (Maximo 7.1.1.5 - BS. Can also be replicted in
  maximo 7 preview site)
  1. create new PO
  2. go to PO line tab
  3. new row
  4. leave as linetype item, enter a non-zero unit cost
  5. save, error message 'an item or description is required'
  6. change linetype from item to material
  7. enter a non-zero unit cost
  8. save, error message 'an item or descirption is required'
  9. enter a material description
  10. press save, error message 'The cost on purchase order line 1
  is not
  equally distributed"
  

Local fix

• The line is now invalid.  Must delete the line,and re-enter the
  line as a workaround.
