APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After restarting the pub/sub broker (strmqbrk), the broker
fails to restore the current set of subscriptions and will
generate FFSTs with probe id PU294005. AMQ5820 and AMQ5819
messages will be reported in the error logs. Queue manager
or broker restart does not resolve this issue.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users who de-register durable subscriptions and then re-
register subscriptions using the same subscription name.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
MQ stores details of subscribers in MQ queues. At broker
restart the queue is browsed to recreate a memory image of the
subscription state. The messages were not being read from the
queue in the same order as they were being written, and in some
    circumstances a sequence of
    subscribe ; unsubscribe ; subscribe
    could be replayed as
    subscribe ; subscribe ; unsubscribe
In these cases the second subscription will be detected as
invalid and the PU294005 FDC will be raised.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was changed such that the subscription messages are
replayed at broker restart in the same order as those
    subscription messages were originally written.
