Error description

  • Error Message: Sometimes a JTextPane can be created that will
    not correctly
apply fonts using the setFont(Font) method. The Sun JRE will
always create a JTextPane that will have a working setFont
    method.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • This is caused by an interaction between
    javax.swing.text.StyleContext$SmallAttributeSet and
java.util.WeakHashMap.The IBM WeakHashMap only checks that
X.equals(Y). This leaves the IBM environment open to different
behavior when using any of Sun's objects that have bad
    equals(Object) methods.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR2
    .
Modify java.util.WeakHashMap to make it check the right direct
    comparison.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20080725 or later
