Error description
Environment: # uname -a SunOS ino2s025n1 5.9 Generic_118558-28 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440 Oracle 10G Environment: Problem: Oracle agent core dumps when database workspace navigator item is clicked. Oracle agent coredumps when database workspace 'alert log' is clicked. This is the error messages in the <hostname>_or_<inst>_col.log file. ===================================================== KORLCK05 which has no rows, setting answer to 0 Segmentation Fault - core dumped Segmentation Fault - core dumped Segmentation Fault - core dumped ===================================================== This is different from IZ04972. After reviewing the customer's alert log files, we f/ound out that the alert files had incomplete oracle error messages in several places like .. ORA-02063: preceding line from EMDMORAP ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel ORA-02 After removing this incomplete error messages in the alert log files, the problem didn't occur any more. Detailed Recreation Procedure: - To recreate this problem, open alert log file of oracle and add incomplete ORA messages like... ORA-02063: preceding line from EMDMORAP ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel ORA-02 Save oracle alert log file. - From the $CANDLEHOME execute following command. ./CandleDBAgent ksh or It'll prompt 'kddexec INSTANCE>' prompt. - On that prompt, type this command. korerr -ddddddddddd -log "full path of alert log" 0 NOTE: Put "full path of alert log" without quote("). For instance, if their alertlog is "/ora/admin/adworacp/bdump/alert_adworacp.log" The command would be korerr -ddddddddddd -log /ora/admin/adworacp/bdump/alert_adworacp.log 0 Expected result : command is ended with coredump (Segmentation Fault) Related Files and Output: Detail logs, alert log file, coredump info are in ECuRep.
Local fix
None, however removing the incomplete ORA messages makes the problem go away.
