Error description

  • An MQRC 2423 (MQRC_CLIENT_CHANNEL_CONFLICT) error occurs when a
Listener port for a message-driven bean (MDB) in WebSphere
Application Server uses a Connection Factory which has a custom
    property CCDTURL set on it.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere Application Server who define
the custom property CCDTURL on a Connection Factory
used by an MDB Listener Port.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When the MDB Listener Port starts up, it tries to create
a JMS connection to the Queue Manager using the CCDTURL
specified by the custom property for the appropriate
Connection Factory. If the connection is created successfully,
then the name of the channel being used is stored in the
    Connection Factory.

After the initial connection has been established, the
Listener Port tries to create a Connection Browser, to monitor
a JMS destination looking for messages. In order to do this,
it tries to create a second JMS connection, using the same
    Connection Factory as before.

However, the Connection Factory now has both a CCDTURL and
a Channel Name stored in it. This is invalid, so when the
Listener Port tries to create the connection for the
    Browser, the MQRC_CLIENT_CHANNEL_CONFLICT error occurs.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ v6 JMS client code has been modified to check
if the CCDTURL property has been specified on a Connection
Factory when creating a connection. If it is, the channel
property is removed from the Connection Factory's list of
properties before the connection is created. This ensures
that WMQ does not try to create JMS connections when both
the CCDTURL property and a channel name have been defined.
