IV99712: SVMON COMMAND CAN CRASH THE SYSTEM APPLIES TO AIX 7200-02

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • svmon command can crash the system. It cannot happen all
    the time as it requires very narrow timing window to hit
    this issue. When it happens, system can crash with the
    following stack trace:

Problem conclusion

  • The routine vm_handle_xproc has been changed to grab the
    pv lock in those cases where the caller doesn't hold it
    already.
