Error description

  • When creating a new SPOT from an existing SPOT, it fails:
# nim -o define -t spot -a source=old_spot ... new_spot
0042-001 nim: processing error encountered on "master":
   ln: 0653-421 /export/spot/old_spot/usr/usr/lib/
        ._spot_libs_links_@_71439/usr/ccs/lib/crt0_r.o
        exists.
    Specify -f to remove /export/spot/old_spot/usr/usr/
        lib/._spot_libs_links_@_71439/usr/ccs/lib/
        crt0_r.o before linking.
[several more similar messages. Note that the source
spot's name is mentioned in the ln warning.]

  the definition of the "new_spot" object.  This
  attribute is either currently missing or the current
  operation would cause it to become missing.

Problem summary


    

  • Users will be unable to create a spot from a spot.
They'll see errors similar to this:

# nim -o define -t spot -a source=old_spot ... new_spot
