APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When migrating to AIX 7.1, if the symbolic
link for /usr/lib/sendmail has been changed
to point to something other than the main
binary (/usr/sbin/sendmail), it will be
changed back to /usr/sbin/sendmail.  This
is primarily an issue if sendmail had been
configured to use ssl and the link changed
to /usr/sbin/sendmail_ssl.

Local fix

  • Change symbolic link back to the desired
sendmail binary after the migration
completes.

Problem summary

  • When migrating to AIX 7.1, if the symbolic link for
/usr/lib/sendmail has been changed to point to sendmail_ssl
than the main binary (/usr/sbin/sendmail), it will be changed
back to /usr/sbin/sendmail.  This is primarily an issue if
sendmail had been configured to use ssl and the link changed
to /usr/sbin/sendmail_ssl.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been added to handle sendmail ssl softlink over
migration.
