Error description

  • Error Message: Command "java -version" fails with the following
    message:
    
            ** ASSERTION FAILED ** j9mm.107 at mminit.cpp:719
    Assert_MM_true_internal((false && (0 <
    extensions->gcThreadCount)))
            java: mminit.cpp:719: gcInitializeCalculatedValues:
    Assertion `false && (0 < extensions->gcThreadCount)' failed.

Local fix

  • This issue can be worked around using the -Xgcthreads<Num>
    option.
    

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused when the number of CPUs at runtime is
    larger than the size of cpu_set_t at compile time
    

Problem conclusion

  • The JVM has been updated so that the number of CPUs can be
    retrieved even when the number exceeds the compile time limit.

       8    SR3 FP20  (8.0.3.20)
