APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • - use a multibyte character set, e.g. EN_US (UTF-8)
- the history file (default: $HOME/.sh_history) may get
  corrupted with invalid command number entries

ksh may run into troubles when such a corrupted history
file is read at a later time.

Local fix

  • no work-around possible

Problem summary

  • If the corrupted history file is read at later time, while
retriving the commands back there may be some corruption

Problem conclusion

  • Separated the flush of commands and flush of command number
entry, the commands are being written w.r.t. the locale and
command number entries are being written only in C locale.
