APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A customer encountered GUI problem that when he displayed
    system panel it gave an error "ERROR:  The server was
    unable to process the request."
    

Local fix

  • The workaround:
    
    Taken to next view with ERROR box displayed that reads
    "The server was
    unable to process the request" --> Click CLOSE and next
    GUI view starts
    displaying container(s) information. So closing the view
    should reset
    it. If it still doesn't resolve it you can restart the
    GUI.
    

Problem summary

  • GUI page "Monitoring > Hardware" does not display
    any the racks (with servers and enclosures). Instead
    the GUI page displays an error dialog with the text
    The server was unable to process the request. This
    is the case if the GUI background tasks have not yet
    been able to collect any states for servers (from
    XCAT) or enclosures (from GPFS).
    

Problem conclusion

  • The GUI software has been modified in order to
    display the racks instead of the error dialog in
    this situation. The states will just be displayed
    as Unknown.
