IV87601: MMBACKUP SHADOW REBUILD FAILS WITH PERL.RTE 5.20.1.2

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • mmbackup with the --rebuild option will fail with:
mmbackup: tsbuhelper: failed to parse shadow line
This is as a result of PERL changes found in perl.rte
5.20.1.2
when using printf and "%llx" conversion format specifier.
Tsbackup33 used this format, but "%lx" will work as well
in this case, so change it to permit proper behavior on
all PERL variants.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • In certain AIX releases, the PERL interpreter misbheaves
in mmbackup's rebuild shadow DB function.  The known
configuration where this occurs is  GPFS 3.5.0.30 on
AIX 7.2

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Modify the mmbackup code to not use printf with the
%llx format specifier.
