APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During an attempt to configure a new cluster environment
at AIX 7.2, the mkcluster command may core dump.
clusterconf or clconfd can also core dump when a node
is attempting to JOIN the cluster.
The stack trace of the dump appears as follows:

read_netmon_entries(??, ??) at 0xd1059800
sync_netmon_entries() at 0xd105ac4c
...

Local fix

  • Work around:
 - save /usr/es/sbin/cluster/netmon.cf file
 - remove all the netmon entries from netmon.cf file.
 - run cldare which calls the mkcluster to create
   caa_private.
 - copy netmon.cf to its original file.

Problem summary

  • A node will fail to JOIN due to clusterconf or clconfd core
dump.  mkcluster will also fail with core dump.

Problem conclusion

  • Correct traversal of interface query data
