Error description
Currently if Group Services (hags) initiates a Kernel Panic on AIX due to a critical client issue, the panic message produced is very generic: "RSCT reboot caused by critical resource protection - Group Services" Unfortunately, the result of an immediate panic is often that the process's internal traces are lost after the fact, and if the cause is a blocked client (no processes missing in the system dump to indicate an obvious cause), there is little definitive evidence of what hags thought was wrong.
Local fix
Problem summary
Group Services panics on AIX are often difficult to investigate, due to loss of logging and other info immediately before the OS is dumped.
Problem conclusion
The AIX kernel panic string will be used to record a summary of the key reasons for the panic being necessary. This will go into the upcoming 2018 release.
