Local fix
Problem summary
The Interospector uses the getter in the parent class to determine the return type of getter method even when the child bean class has a complete pair of getter and setter methods for property whose type is descendant of another property defined in parent bean class. As a result the property is not recognized by Introspector as it uses the type defined in super-class and does not link write method for property from child-class.
Problem conclusion
The JDK has been updated to identify the return type correctly from the child bean or parent bean. The problem is fixed in Oracle JDK through bug 8027648 . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 SR9 FP40 (7.0.9.40) 7 R1 SR3 FP40 (7.1.3.40) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs. For those running stand-alone, information about the available Service Refreshes and Fix Packs can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
