Error description
Error Message: A SIGSEGV is raised in a method that has been AOT compiled. . Stack Trace: N/A . This problem can only occur if AOT compilation is enabled in the JVM on z Systems.
Local fix
N/A
Problem summary
During AOT compilation, the problem is caused when the JIT compiler decides to merge two pointers to be stored in the data section of the method which have different inline sites. As a result, when the pointer which got overwritten by the bad merge gets accessed, it does not have the correct value and will likely result in a SIGSEGV being raised.
Problem conclusion
The JIT compiler has been updated to prevent merging pointers in the data section of an AOT compiled method with different inline sites. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 R1 SR3 FP20 (7.1.3.20) 8 SR2 (8.0.2.0) 6 R1 SR8 FP15 (6.1.8.15) 7 SR9 FP20 (7.0.9.20) .
