    ABSTRACT:             Tivoli Portal jnlp getting java parse
    error
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    With the latest version of Java 8 u60, there are parse errors in
    the
    java log.
    
    WARNING: the jnlp file is invalid and will be blocked in a
    future
    release.
    Exception: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; lineNumber: 2;
    columnNumber: 6
    
    It appears the java webstart process is getting more strict
    about the
    xml format of the jnlp files. The first line in the file has to
    be an
    XML statement and not a comment.
    
    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
    Run Tivolo Portal Java webstart client using Java 8 u60 or
    greater.
    
    LOCAL FIX:
     Delete the first line of the java webstart tep.jnlp file. Save
    the file
    and reconnect the tep java webstart client.

Problem summary

  • Tivoli Portal Java webstart client throwing an XML parse error.
    The parse errors do not cause the Tivoli portal client to fail.
    
    As of Java 8 u60 the java webstart process started throwing
    parse errors when processing the tep.jnlp file.  Oracle
    introduced a new xml parser in the webstart process.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Removed and or fixed the xml parameters that were causing the
    parse errors.
    
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
