Error description
When user runs Resource Connections visualization, the search iterates through all links (including those that can be considered "weak", e.g. "RETURN TRANSACTION"), flooding the Resource Connections view with an excessive amount of graph nodes and causing CICS Explorer to become unresponsive. Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVWJB
Local fix
Problem summary
1. The Resource connections visiuzalization will loop through all available connections to build the visualisation graph. When a very large number of nodes exists this can cause CICS Explorer to run out of memory. The Resource connections view was displaying too many connections, including those that could be considered "weak links", such as "Return Transaction". Where a complete graph is produced, the size can become very large, and might become diffucult for users to interpret. 2. The data displayed in the Uses Resources view for a particular transaction might not match the results of a CICS Query against that transaction. This occurred when a transaction had different starting programs in different CICS regions. The Uses Resources view has been analyzing the Transactions' execution stack incorrectly. The plug-in assumed that a Transaction would always have the same initial program across all CICS regions.
Problem conclusion
Resource connections view has been redesigned: - A memory management problem, which occurred during resource graph updates, was fixed; - The amount of resources displayed on a Resource graph has been restricted to those resources used in one transaction. When the user runs Resource Connections view, and there are some transactions found (connections via "START TRANSACTION" or "RETURN TRANSACTION"), the resource connections analysis stops there. To see the connections going from these transactions, you must open another graph for each of those transactions by selecting the "Show Connections" action in the context menu from the Transaction node. This allows the user to perform a step-by-step resource connections discovery. Uses Resources view has been redesigned: - Now the plug-in checks the initial program of each transaction in every region. This fix will be made available in version 5.2.0.4 of the CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in for CICS Explorer.
