IV74775: TWA_ENV.SH CAN CAUSE LIBZ ERRORS IN AIX

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If you source the TWS environment using twa-env.sh on AIX some
  system commands can return errors relating to the libz. You can
  see :
  
  Could not load program /usr/opt/freeware/bin/rpm:
  Could not load module /opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so.
          Dependent module
  /s2itws/TWS/ITA/cpa/ita/lib/libz.a(libz.so.1)
  could not be loaded.
          Member libz.so.1 is not found in archive
  Could not load module rpm.
          Dependent module /opt/freeware/lib/librpm.so could not
  be loaded.
  
  Could not load module.
  
  # ldd /usr/opt/freeware/bin/rpm | grep libz
  opt/freeware/lib/libz.a(libz.so.1)
  
  - /opt/freeware/lib/libz.a is searched and loaded
    (actually libz.so.1 out of that library is loaded)
  
  -> if a LIBPATH variable is in place this changes:
  
  - instead of using the absolute path of the executable
    libz.a is searched in the path list of LIBPATH
  
  - if any file of that name is found there, this
    library is used
  
  TWS uses a different libz.a via the LIBPATH and is
  not fully compatible with the AIX.
  
  A solution is to rename the TWS libz library, planned for
  the next fix-pack.

Problem summary

• We observed that starting (at least) from AIX
  TL 7100-03-04-1441 some AIX commands don't work properly in TWS
  environment (ie oslevel -s). This is due to the inclusion in
  LIBPATH env variable of TWS environment of the path to dynamic
  agent libraries (<TWA home>/TWS/ITA/cpa/ita/lib). In this folder
  there is libz library creates conflicts to os tools like
  oslevel. It is necessary to rename it.
  

Problem conclusion

• The library will be renamed in TWS 9.1 fp3, TWS 9.2 fp2, TWS
  9.3 fp1
  

Temporary fix

• the workaround is the following:
  - stop agent and JobManager process
  - go in <TWS home>/TWS/ITA/cpa/ita/lib and
  move all the libz libraries in ita folder
  mv libz.* ..
  - make sure rights and ownership are preserved
  - restart the agent
