APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: The customer will notice incorrect value decoding
from byte to string, when the bytes contain some surrogate
values. The symptom may vary, ranging from assertion, exception
to crash.

Stack Trace: N/A

This problem is specific to 32 and 64 bit X system.

Local fix

  • -Xjit:disableconverterReducer,disableIdiomRecognition

Problem summary

  • In byte to string decoder, if the byte contains surrogate
codepoints, the JIT maybe enter a particular optimization
thatwill return the wrong values.

Problem conclusion

  • The JIT has been updated to return the correct value.
