Error description
Error Message: A SIGSEGV/GPF is received when Java JIT is compiling a method. . Stack Trace: TR_S390BinaryAnalyser::longSubtractAnalyserlsubHelper64TR_S390Tr eeEvaluator::isubEvaluatorTR_CodeGenerator::evaluateTR_S390TreeE valuator::evaluateNULLCHKWithPossibleResolve . This issue only affects Java on z systems.
Local fix
This problem can be avoided by setting the JVM option -Xjit:exclude={full method name} for the method that is causing the issue. However, it may cause some performance degradation.
Problem summary
The problem was caused by the JIT compiler attempting to optimize an exception check while compiling or inlining a call to MethodHandle.invokeExact.
Problem conclusion
The JIT compiler has been updated to handle this case properly. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR1 FP10 (8.0.1.10) 7 R1 SR3 FP10 (7.1.3.10) 7 SR9 (7.0.9.0) 6 R1 SR8 FP4 (6.1.8.4) .
