Local fix
Problem summary
The problem affects both the 31 and the 64-bit builds. The problem can only be observed if the Java VM attempts to reduce the size of its object heap, which is not a very common occurrence. If it does try to do so, it is possible the value of the GPR15 register will be clobbered by the routine it uses to reduce the size of the heap. If this problem is observed, it will likely cause failures on the logic of the internal function used to reduce the size of the heap. It is undefined what the customer would see as a result. A wide range of potential problems can arise from this incorrect behavior.
Problem conclusion
The code was fixed in order to make sure the value of GPR15 is properly saved and restored. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 6 R1 SR8 FP4 (6.1.8.4) 7 SR9 (7.0.9.0) 7 R1 SR3 (7.1.3.0) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs.
