IV70849: BATCHMAN AND JOBMAN FAIL ON ALL WINDOWS FTAS IF ADDDEP WITH AT=

APAR status

Error description

ENV: Windows FTA 8.5.1 GA through 9.2 FP1
PROBLEM:  All Windows FTAs unlink and have the following error
messages in the stdlist\traces\<DATE>_TWSMERGE.log:
BATCHMAN:Received Ad: MASTER
JOBMAN:*
JOBMAN:* AWSBDW301E Jobman was unable to successfully access a
mailbox record in its Mailbox.msg file, "Courier.msg", giving
the following error type and number: "3 - 0". The problem was
identified in the following source file:
"../../src/jobman/courier.c" and the function being performed
is: read_courier.
JOBMAN:*
JOBMON:INFO:recv_on_socket failed
JOBMON:AWSBIJ010E An internal error has occurred. Jobmon is
unable to read the data received from jobman. The error
occurred in the following source code file:
../../src/jobmon/jobmon.c at line: 500. The error message and
error number are as follows: No error : 0.

JOBMON:+ AWSBIJ202I Jobman has ended

MAILMAN:+ AWSBCV001E Batchman has failed with an
internal error, producing the following status code: Stopped

Found the following entry in the MASTER's plan audit log file:
...adddep job=FTA#SCHEDULE[(HHMM mm/dd/YY),(<SCHEDID>)].JOB;at=
The "at=" has no value set.
RECREATE:  There may be several methods to recreate this issue.
* In one case, using TDWC 8.5.1, the check box for "Earliest
start" was unchecked.  This action normally results in a
"deldep" audit record.
** To recreate the adddep entry with an "at=" and no value for
the "at" take the following steps in any version of TDWC 8.5.1
or later (through TDWC 9.2 FP1.):
1. Monitor Jobs
2. Click on a job name in the "Jobs" column.
3. In the "<Job> properties" window click on "Time restrictions"
4. Check the box for "Earliest start -> Specify date and time"
5. Enter 1/1/1 for the date and 00:00:-000 for the time.
6. Click [Ok]
The problem was discovered with TWS 8.5.1 and recreated with
TWS 9.2 FP1.

Local fix

No local fix for TDWC.  To recover the Windows FTAs need to be
reset.

Problem summary

Connector component doesn't perfomr the appropriate check on the
at dependencies and malformed request is done on the FTA causing
the internal error.

Problem conclusion

The apar will be fixed in TWS 8.5.1 fp06, TWS 8.6 fp03, TWS 9.1
fp03, TWS 9.2 fp02, TWS 9.3 fp01
