APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Timeout Issue running several relevance queries via the REST
    API.
    
    The REST API returns the following error:
    "Cannot perform relevance query evaluation at this time because
    there is no reachable Web Reports instance collecting data from
    this Server."
    
    Debugging shows that queries are fine and return as expected
    however complex ones which take >30 second (on average) to
    execute via the SOAP API, result in the error.
    The root server shows the following on these errors:
    /api/query (7936) - Failed to query WebReports server at
    https://NAMBFSWDCPSQL02.nam.nsroot.net:52312/webreports:
    HTTPError 28: Timeout was reached
    

Local fix

  • This fix changes the default timeout when requesting data from
    Web Reports from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
    It also makes the timeout configurable via client
    setting: _API_RelevanceQuery_TimeoutSeconds
    
    This is necessary because expensive relevance queries can
    sometimes take longer than 30 seconds to return any data at all.
    
    This was formally fixed in 9.2 Patch 1 (9.2.1.48) and 9.1 Patch
    5 (9.1.1229.0).
