Error description

  • Error Message: Multiple JVMs hang when a common shared classes
    cache is configured
    .
    Stack Trace: Native Stack of the
    thread:UnlockFileUnlockFileExUnlockFileExj9file_unlock_bytesSH_O
    SCachemmap::releaseWriteLockSH_CompositeCacheImpl::exitWriteMute
    xSH_CacheMap::getCachedUTFStringSH_CacheMap::notifyClasspathEntr
    yStateChange
    .

Local fix

  • The issue can be worked around by configuring JVMs to use the
    common shared classes cache in readonly mode or use the
    nonpersistent cache method.-Xshareclasses:readonly
    (or)-Xshareclasses:nonpersistent

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused when more than one JVM tries to coordinate
    the access to the shared classes cache, this results into
    deadlock condition at the OS/Kernel layer.

Problem conclusion

  • The JVM has been updated to use the alternative method to
    coordinate the access to the shared classes cache as suggested
    by the Microsoft/MSDN.
