APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Environment: GLVM 7.1.2 with ifix IV55176m0a.
This is a IO timeout on the stale partition sync IO
from LVM. This IO is marked with the special b_option
flag RPV_ORDER_OVERLAP_IO_ONLY_OP.

We see one such IO in wait to receive queue and 3 in the
incoming queue. These writes are special writes. They
don't have dependencies with all async IO but only which
are overlapping with the disk region. Each disk divided
into 4MB regions for disks smaller then 1TB.

All 4 sync IOs are around 600 seconds behind and the
disk timeout is 360 seconds. The sync IO waiting to
receive the has group number set to 0 that means it's
not overlapping with any other IO. Second the "blkrange"
overlap pointer is not null hence overlap detection is
turned on which should not be a case for this specific
IO.

Problem summary


    

  • System freeze and causes failover to remote node, it does not
allow any operation/commands on local node.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Corrected the buf traversing pointer which was causing the
thread running in loop.
