Error description

  • During LPAR/NPIV start operations (login, Nameserver queries,
etc.), there is a possibility of some fields (20 bytes) within
some structures in the fscsi driver scope being accidentally or
unexpectedly cleared or zero'ed out. As a result of this, when
the driver happens to access any of these fields that were
changed, unexpected problems including a system crash, a hang
or other issues, could potentially happen.
    .
Here are some typical scenarios where this can happen:
    - This only happens with Emulex SLI-4 FC/FCoE HBA/CNA 10Gb or
    higher AIX Fibre channel drivers.
    - This only happens on VIO servers, with LPARs with NPIV
    configurations and mappings.
    - This only happens when an NPIV admin operation fails. This
    does not happen frequently.
