Error description

  • Issue surrounding Rotating asset transfer and return using
    Inventory
Usage and Shipment receiving between 2 sites.

    Environment :

    TPAE 7505

    ACTION TAKEN :

    Problem Details:

When asset is transferred to a site it cannot be returned back
    to
originating site using Shipment receiving because Maximo is
    giving an
error message that Asset already exists in the site (SCENARIO
    2).
Without shipment record transfer and return works ok (SCENARIO
    1) which
shows that this is a bug in Maximo.

    Replication Steps:

    SCENARIO 1 (Working OK):
    1. Go to Inventory ' Inventory Usage application
    2. Create new Usage record with type TRANSFER and select item
    number and
rotating asset to be transferred and define a site where asset
    will be
    transferred:

    3. Save record and change status to SHIPPED

    4. Select ok

    5. Go to Inventory ' Shipment Receiving application to receive
    the asset
    to another site
    6. Find the Shipment created in step 4:

    7. Select Shipped Items button and select the item to be
    Shipped:

    8. Save the record (note: status in WASSET)

    9. Open Select Action and select Receive Rotating Items action

    10. Leave asset number as it is (note: same as sending site in
    step 2).
Select OK. Now asset is transferred to site.

    11. Then return the same asset using Inventory Usage
    application. Go to
Inventory Usage application and create new record and select
    asset in
step 10 to be returned back to the site where it was originally
transferred. Attention! Change default insert site the same as
    site you
are returning the asset before creating inventory usage record:

    12. Save the record and change status to COMPLETE. Asset is
    transferred
back to originating site OK so this option works as it should
    be.

    SCENARIO 2 (NOT Working):
    1. Go to Inventory ' Inventory Usage application
    2. Create new Usage record with type TRANSFER and select item
    number and
rotating asset to be transferred and define a site where asset
    will be
    transferred:

    3. Save record and change status to SHIPPED

    4. Select ok

    5. Go to Inventory ' Shipment Receiving application to receive
    the asset
    to another site
    6. Find the Shipment created in step 4:

    7. Select Shipped Items button and select the item to be
    Shipped:

    8. Save the record (note: status in WASSET)

    9. Open Select Action and select Receive Rotating Items action

    10. Leave asset number as it is (note: same as sending site in
    step 2).
Select OK. Now asset is transferred to new site.

    11. Then return the same asset using Inventory Usage
    application. Go to
Inventory Usage application and create new record and select
    asset in
step 10 to be returned back to the site where it was originally
transferred. Attention! Change default insert site the same as
    site you
are returning the asset before creating inventory usage record:

    12. Save record and change status to SHIPPED

    13. Select ok

    14. Go to Inventory ' Shipment Receiving application to receive
    the
    asset to another site
    15. Find the Shipment created in step 13:

    16. Select Shipped Items button and select the item to be
    Shipped:

    17. Save the record (note: status in WASSET)

    18. Open Select Action and select Receive Rotating Items action
    19. Leave asset number as it is (note: same as returning site in
    step
    11). Select OK.

    20. Error asset already exists occurs:
