APAR status

Error description

  • Error Message: An unhandled exception (crash is raised in the
    JIT shared library (libj9jit2X.so). The problem affects JDKs
    running on Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7).

Local fix

  • This issue can be worked around with transactional lock elision
    (TLE) disabled.
    

Problem summary

  • This problem is caused by the system call while in kernel code
    going to put TM suspend mode, hence any change resulted will not
    be rolled back when we exit kernel code and back into
    transaction and the transaction is aborted, causing inconsistent
    state.
    
    The problem exists on ALL Java 7.1 Power Linux Java builds.
    The problem does not apply to any other architecure or other
    Java releases.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
       7 R1 SR1 FP1   (7.1.1.1)
    
    The JVM has been updated to disable TLE for Linux on Power8.
