APAR status

Error description

  • When a disaster occurs on a primary site that affects
the SVC Disksubsystem with a Metro Mirror in place,
the surviving node running on the secondary site
will fail to acquire the resource group and the following
SVC error will appear in /var/hacmp/log/hacmp.out:

CMMVC5977E The operation was not performed because it is
not valid given the current consistency group state.

As a result, all the volumes (LUNs) will be kept in
read-only mode and subsequent varyonvg attempts
will fail leaving the cluster in a permanent error state.

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • Modify svcpprc_get_disk_vg_fs script to ensure that the copy
direction changes when resources fail over to the remote site.
