APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the first disk in a VG is in the defined state,
and the VG is a concurrent VG,
when Power HA tries to bring the VG online using:
varyonvg -fncP <vgname>
varyonvg -ncA <vgname>

The varyonvg -A to go to active mode will
fail for Scalable type Volume Groups, or hang
for small and big type Volume Groups.

Problem summary


    

  • There are a couple places where LVM assumes the first disk will
be readable in the path, which is not always true.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Correct LVM code to ensure we can properly read the lvm_rec and
update metadata in the scenario described above, when the first
disk in the VG is removed.
