APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: Program becomes unresponsive, with one thread
hung in the jit compiler.

Local fix

  • One could specify -Xjit:disableLookahead to eliminate a possible
erroneous interaction between the optimizations causing an
infinite loop

Problem summary

  • In certain scenarios, the JIT optimizer would erroneously
produce a cycle in a data structure, and then loop forever while
attempting to process that data structure.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
   6 R1 SR8       (6.1.8.0)
   7    SR7       (7.0.7.0)
   6    SR16      (6.0.16.0)
   7 R1 SR1       (7.1.1.0)
.
The optimizer was fixed to prevent the erroneous cycle.
