Error description

  • During the acquire the ERS Res.Group the following
error messages may be seen in hacmp.out:
 cl_sapStart[Kill_instance:1] cd /usr/sap/PXE/ERS11/exe
 cl_sapStart[Kill_instance:1] ./cleanipc 11 remove
 cl_sapStart[Kill_instance:1] 1>> /usr/sap/PXE/ERS11
   /work/stopsap_pxeers_11.log
 Could not open the ICU common library.
   The following files must be in the path described by
   the environment variable "LIBPATH":
   libicuuc40.a, libicudata40.a, libicui18n40.a [nlsui0.c
     1544] pid = 17104984
   LIBPATH is currently set to <not set>  [nlsui0.c 1547]
     pid = 17104984

Local fix

  • Setting the root User LIBPATH variable accordingly to
include the necessary directories based on the SAP
ERS configuration may alleviate the problem.

Problem summary

  • cleanipc needs to have the profile path of current instance in
its LIBPATH. As we are running this root this command will
fail.  This will not cause RG to go error state but application
might have problems to start the next time around.

Problem conclusion

  • run cleanipc as the owner of the instance.
