Error description

  • The ownership of some files in the subdirectory /opt/mqm/gskit8
beneath the WebSphere MQ product install directory /opt/mqm is
set to a user ID and group ID that is not "mqm". The following
    example shows the incorrect ownership.

    -r-xr-xr-x 1 827 508 209 Aug 11 2011 copyright
    -r-xr-xr-x 1 827 508 313 Aug 11 2011 private_checkinstall
    -r-xr-xr-x 1 827 508 313 Aug 11 2011 private_postinstall
    -r-xr-xr-x 1 827 508 4535 Aug 11 2011 ReadMe.txt

There is no harm to WebSphere MQ functionality, but the files
ought to be owned by mqm:mqm, not by user 827 group 508. On some
systems these IDs might potentially correspond to a real user or
group, so will appear as names not numbers. However, in most
cases they will not correspond to a real user or group, and the
    numbers above will be displayed.

Local fix

  • The files could be changed to mqm:mqm ownership by the user
using the chown command, if required.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users installing WebSphere MQ on Solaris operating systems.
There is no impact to the functionality of the product because
    of this defect.

    Platforms affected:
    Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86-64

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The files listed in the Error Description were being left out of
the list of files that need mqm:mqm ownership. The WebSphere MQ
install scripts were therefore not setting the ownership on
these files correctly. There is no impact to functionality of
the product, but the files ought to be owned by mqm:mqm, not by
    user 827 group 508.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is fixed by ensuring that the latest data for the
subscription user is stored after an alter request to a
subscription object so that the new value persists over queue
    manager restart.
