Error description
An ALTER SUB command fails with error code AMQ8477. The following would be observed in the runmqsc output: ALTER SUB('ABCD') PSPROP(NONE) 8 : ALTER SUB('ABCD') PSPROP(NONE) AMQ8477: The specified options are invalid.
Local fix
Workaround steps to get the subscription altered: 1. Save the Qmgr data and log directory before making any changes to the Qmgr's state. 2. Use the saveqmgr support pac (MS03) to save all object definitions of the Qmgr. 3. Run the runmqsc command as shown below, to recreate the subscription objects with PSPROP(NONE) using the saveqmgr definitions. DEFINE SUB(MQMESHD0 TEXT.IN.ROUTER414D51580000000000000000000000000000000000000000/T EST/TEST1) PSPROP(NONE) REPLACE
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of MQ 7.0.1, 7.1 & 7.5 on all distributed platforms who use MQ pub/sub functionality. Platforms affected: MultiPlatform **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The runmqsc ALTER SUB command attempted on a subscription which has MQSO_NEW_PUBLICATIONS_ONLY flag set fails with error, "AMQ8477: The specified options are invalid". Even though the attributes that are being altered are alterable on a subscription, an incorrect check is made with MQSO_NEW_PUBLICATIONS_ONLY flag, which requires only MQSO_CREATE flag to be present on the subscription that is being altered. If the subscription has MQSO_ALTER along with MQSO_CREATE flag set, the check made for MQSO_NEW_PUBLICATIONS_ONLY flag fails with the reason code MQRC_OPTIONS_ERROR and resulting in the above mentioned error.
Problem conclusion
The alter subscription code is modified so that the check made for MQSO_NEW_PUBLICATIONS_ONLY flag during altering a subscription is removed, as it is not a relevant check to be made for an alter scenario. This allows the subscription to be altered when the MQSO_NEW_PUBLICATIONS_ONLY flag is set. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.1 7.1.0.5 v7.5 7.5.0.4 v7.0 7.0.1.12 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
