Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ 7.0.1 or 7.1.0 who are using the Client SupportPac (MQC7/MQC71), who are using an application which attempts to make use of XA functionality. This APAR is not applicable to users of the WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter, see APAR IV48023 for details on this component. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: In order to use XA functionality to allow for MQ to participate in distributed two-phase transactions, MQ requires certain libraries. When WebSphere MQ 7.0 and 7.1 first shipped, this functionality was provided by the WebSphere MQ Extended Transactional Client component of the product. With the announcement of WebSphere MQ V7.5, the WebSphere MQ Extended Transactional Client is available for use in all client deployments without additional entitlement. This includes all supported versions of WebSphere MQ client connecting to any supported version of WebSphere MQ queue manager. As part of this announcement, customers using WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 and V7.1 gain the benefit of use of the WebSphere MQ Extended Transactional Client with no additional entitlement required. For additional information on this, please see the WebSphere MQ V7.5 announcement letter: http://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=AN&subt ype=CA&htmlfid=897/ENUS212-091 In order to obtain these XA specific libraries for client installations, the MQ Client SupportPacs MQC7/MQC71 was required to includes the necessary files.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere MQ Client SupportPacs (MQC7 and MQC71) installations have been updated so that they now include the necessary XA libraries to permit applications to include WMQ in distributed transactions. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.0 7.0.1.12 v7.1 7.1.0.5 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
