Error description
MQ objects may be reported as damaged in multi instance queue manager environments while using NFS file systems when the intr (interrupt) mount option is used. This common mount option allows an NFS request to be interrupted if the server is unavailable. MQ will report a damaged object with an AMQ8149 as well as AMQ9509.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: You may encounter this problem if your queue files are accessed over NFS. It is likely that the intr (interrupt) mount option would need to be in effect for this NFS mount for the problem to occur. Platforms affected: All Unix **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The queue reading logic assumes that a file read request will be satisfied in its entirety, or at least up to end-of-file. This has been proven to be the situation in practice at least for directly accessed disk systems. However, access via NFS has now likely introduced the capability for the low-level file read routine to prematurely return having only satisfied part of the request (this is known as a "short read"). The requirement on the caller is then to re-issue the read with the remainder.
Problem conclusion
Implemented the logic to wrap a read request in a loop to issue reads until the full required amount of data has been read, or until an error occurs or end-of-file is encountered. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.11 -------- -------------------- AIX 7.0.1.11 HP-UX (PA-RISC) 7.0.1.11 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.0.1.11 Solaris (SPARC) 7.0.1.11 Solaris (x86-64) 7.0.1.11 Linux (x86) 7.0.1.11 Linux (x86-64) 7.0.1.11 Linux (zSeries) 7.0.1.11 Linux (Power) 7.0.1.11 v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.4 -------- -------------------- AIX 7.1.0.4 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.4 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.4 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.4 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.4 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.4 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.4 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.4 Version v7.5 -------- -------------------- Fix available in: 7.5.0.3 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
