Error description

  • Error Message: A performance regression is seen with large
    applications. This issue only affects Java 7 SR4 on X86
    platforms (Windows and Linux, both 32-bit and 64-bit with
    compressed reference support enabled).

Local fix

  • The performance loss can be alleviated with the JVM option
    -Xjit:disableOutlinedNew.
    

Problem summary

  • The regression is caused by sub-optimal placements of memory
    prefetch instructions in the JIT run-time code.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    7.0.0 SR5
    .
    The JIT run-time library has been updated to improve the
    effectiveness of memory prefetch operations.
