APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • lparstat reports an app value of 0 for some time, even
though there are free processors in the pool. This may
happen after removing a processor from the pool or after
LPAR migration to another frame. It may clear it's self
after some time.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • Customer can see the erroneous app value of 0 in
lparstart and can persist for quite some time
(days, weeks, months)

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Fix is to query the hypervisor and get the information of
shared processor pool idle time and do some calculations
and pass  accurate information to higher level routines
